Avoided ferromagnetic quantum critical point in CeZn

چکیده
Cubic CeZn shows a structural phase transition under pressure and it modifies the ground state from an antiferromagnetic (AFM) to ferromagnetic (FM) state. To investigate how FM terminates at quantum transition, we measured electrical resistivity for single-crystal CeZn. The temperature into decreases monotonously with increasing pressure, accompanied by pronounced Kondo effect, but drastic change in field response occurs before ordered terminates. This result suggests that critical point is avoided appearance of AFM-like

Avoided antiferromagnetic order and quantum critical point in CeCoIn5.
We measured the specific heat and resistivity of heavy fermion CeCoIn5 between the superconducting critical field H(c2)=5 T and 9 T, with the field in the [001] direction, and at temperatures down to 50 mK. At 5 T the data show a non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior down to the lowest temperatures. At the field above 8 T the data exhibit a crossover from the Fermi liquid to a non-Fermi liquid behavi...
متن کاملFerromagnetic Quantum Critical Point Avoided by the Appearance of Another Magnetic Phase in LaCrGe_{3} under Pressure.
The temperature-pressure phase diagram of the ferromagnet LaCrGe_{3} is determined for the first time from a combination of magnetization, muon-spin-rotation, and electrical resistivity measurements. The ferromagnetic phase is suppressed near 2.1 GPa, but quantum criticality is avoided by the appearance of a magnetic phase, likely modulated, AFM_{Q}. Our density functional theory total energy c...
متن کاملSingular effects of impurities near the ferromagnetic quantum-critical point.
Systematic theoretical results for the effects of a dilute concentration of magnetic impurities on the thermodynamic and transport properties in the region around the quantum critical point of a ferromagnetic transition are obtained. In the quasiclassical regime, the dynamical spin fluctuations enhance the Kondo temperature. This energy scale decreases rapidly in the quantum fluctuation regime,...
متن کاملFirst-order superconducting transition near a ferromagnetic quantum critical point.
We address the issue of how triplet superconductivity emerges in an electronic system near a ferromagnetic quantum critical point (FQCP). Previous studies found that the superconducting transition is of second order, and T(c) is strongly reduced near the FQCP due to pair-breaking effects from thermal spin fluctuations. In contrast, we demonstrate that near the FQCP, the system avoids pair-break...
متن کاملFerromagnetic quantum critical point in the heavy-fermion metal YbNi4(P(1-x)As(x))2.
Unconventional superconductivity and other previously unknown phases of matter exist in the vicinity of a quantum critical point (QCP): a continuous phase change of matter at absolute zero. Intensive theoretical and experimental investigations on itinerant systems have shown that metallic ferromagnets tend to develop via either a first-order phase transition or through the formation of intermed...
